About Elements Since the earliest times when mankind began to develop, philosophers have thought about how the universe was created, what it consists of, and the first source of everything. One of the most epic views is the “Four Elements” idea of Empedocles. These four elements are air, water, fire and earth, respectively. According to Empedocles; the basis of the universe is formed by the combine of these four elements and forms the basis of the concept called “existence”. When air and fire combine to form hot, and water and earth combine to form cold, hot and cold are consist of four elements as two opposite concepts. These are the four elements that constituent parts the universe, which are the basis of everything according to Empedocles.
